Kara — Veterinary Assistant

A Maryland native, Kara originally had her sights set on a nursing career, but when she adopted a mini Australian Shepherd, she realized her calling was veterinary medicine, After attending Anne Arundel Community College where she became a certified veterinary assistant, Kara did an internship at an animal hospital, which lead to a full-time job. Looking to expand her experience and skills, she joined VNIoC in 2024. Since returning from maternity leave, she’s enjoyed her new role in imaging, working with Dr. Rybak, Dr. Cusack and imaging technologist Beth.

Life outside work is just as busy as at VNIoC. Kara and her fiancé welcomed a little girl in 2025, adding to their household that includes her fiancé’s son, a dog, a box turtle, a tortoise, and her fiancé’s parents, who have three cats and a dog.
