Dr. Nina Wei, DVM, DACVIM (Neurology)
Dr. Ning-Wei “Nina” Wei is originally from Taiwan and practiced as an associate veterinarian in both Taiwan and the United States before pursuing specialty training in veterinary neurology.
Her interest in neurology became deeply personal after her own dog suffered from seizures. That experience gave her a lasting appreciation for how frightening and overwhelming neurologic disease can be for pet owners, and ultimately inspired her to pursue advanced training in the field.
Dr. Wei completed advanced internship training at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists, followed by a dedicated Neurology/Neurosurgery internship at Auburn University. She then joined the University of California, Davis, first as a postdoctoral scholar and later as a resident in Neurology and Neurosurgery. At UC Davis, she was fortunate to train with an exceptionally experienced and collaborative neurology team at one of the nation’s leading veterinary schools. Her training included medical and surgical neurology, advanced diagnostics, electrodiagnostics, neuromuscular disease, teaching, and clinical research.
Dr. Wei is very grateful for the mentors, colleagues, patients, and families who shaped her training. She hopes to bring that experience to each patient with compassion, thoughtful communication, and an understanding of how meaningful the human-animal bond can be, especially when a beloved pet is facing a neurologic illness.
