Examples of Enhancing Treatment & Care with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT): Acute Left Cruciate Injury

These pre and post HBOT pictures illustrate the adjunctive pain control effect of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. This was an acute presentation of a cruciate injury. The clients presented this patient to the emergency service within one hour of witnessing an injury during play. The owners’ complaint was a left rear limb gait disturbance.

Left: Pre-HBOT. Right: Post-HBOT.

There was a left rear limb anterior drawer sign on examination, and pain on manipulation of the left stifle. The patient received one HBOT session for 60 minutes at 2.0 ATA immediately after this examination. No pain management or anti-inflammatory medications were given until after the initial Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy treatment session.
